Simi Valley, CA. – Our US IOPHR representatives were invited by the US State Department to attend a gathering at the Ronald Reagan Foundation and Library on July 22nd 2018 with keynote speaker Secretary of State Michael R. Pompeo and Tom Cotton, the US Senator from Arkansas, to deliver remarks on “Supporting Iranian Voices”.
Today, on Int'l Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women #IDEVAW2022, IOPHR stands with all women & young girls around the world, especially those who are suffering greatly at the hands of the brutal Iranian regime & commends their bravery in their fight for freedom. https://t.co/iRaXdOTd4V
With the initiatives of Iceland and Germany, and the efforts of NGOs and human rights defenders, the @UN_HRC has voted to establish a fact-finding mission to investigate human rights violation in the IRI, since the uprising that was sparked by the killing of #MahsaAmini.
At its 35th special session, the @UN Human Rights Council decided to create a new fact-finding mission to investigate "alleged #HumanRightsViolations in the Islamic Republic of #Iran related to the protests that began on 16 September 2022."
Iran's track record of widespread human rights violation & the killing of its own citizens is nothing new. People of #Iran have already expressed that the IRI does not represent them. This is a step in the right direction & we will be expecting further such actions from @EuroParl https://t.co/mzssnZ7hf3
