Today in a virtual meeting attended by various speakers—including Ambassador Sam Brownback, the US Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom— speakers and international activists spoke about the plight of prisoners of conscience and religious minorities in Iran.
During this meeting Dr Hamid Gharagozloo—the representative of IOPHR in the United States—made a presentation on the situation of religious minorities in Iran. Dr. Gharagozloo spoke on the persecution of Gonabadi Sufis not just within the country, but also the Gonabadi Sufi exiles and prisoners. Dr. Gharagozloo also commented on the struggles of the Iranian Bahia’s, the rampant executions and hangings of religious minorities and non-minority citizens in Iran, and the broader human rights issues in Iran.
