On Tuesday, 30th September 2025, the “Iran Front for the Revival of Law and National Sovereignty” together with the “International Organisation to Preserve Human Rights” – IOPHR held an important session at the European Parliament in Brussels.
The meeting, titled “Iran Briefing: A Roadmap for a New Middle East”, was hosted by Member of the European Parliament Mr. “Lucas Mandl” and featured speakers including “Sir Dr. Liam Fox”, former UK Secretary of State for Defence and the current Chairman of the Abraham Accords from the United Kingdom, along with other distinguished figures. The discussion examined pathways toward a new Middle East in light of recent regional developments and the growing isolation of the Islamic Republic.
Explaining why he hosted the event, Lucas Mandl said: “The Iran Front for the Revival of Law and National Sovereignty is different and can unite people.” He continued: “In dealing with initiatives for the freedom and rights of the people of Iran, I have had a great deal of experience. When I met with Mattie Heaven and Vahid Beheshti a few months ago, I quickly understood that this was different. These are people who bring others together; people who stand for freedom and human rights. I truly want to emphasize that it is positive, possible, and necessary for us to unite, align, and move along a common path, of course for the sake of the people, not for this or that ideology or any particular political idea, but for freedom, human rights, civilization, and dignity. That is why I am honoured that we can hold this conference with you, and I thank you.”
Sir Liam Fox, the next speaker, said: “All too often in international affairs, we overcomplicate what we are trying to do. So, I believe that any discussion about Iran and with Iran should begin with a single, clear first principle: in this discussion, the only people who have the right to decide who will govern Iran are the people of Iran. Not expatriates, not former politicians, not former leaders, not members of the former royal family, not military commanders, and not the IRGC. Only the people of Iran have the right to determine their government.”
Speaking on behalf of the “International Organisation to Preserve Human Rights” Afshin Sajedi noted that the meeting coincided with the anniversary of the Bloody Friday of Zahedan in Southeastern Iran, and presented a report on that massacre. He stressed that this crime is part of a policy of systematic, state-organised discrimination and repression that has for decades been applied against 22 million Sunni Iranian citizens, especially residents of Sistan and Baluchestan Province. He then pointed to the regime’s double standards toward Muslims at home and abroad, describing the Islamic Republic’s professed support for Muslims outside Iran as hypocritical, deceptive, and aimed at undermining national security in democratic societies. He emphasised that the swift overthrow of this anti-human regime is not only a human-rights imperative but also a security imperative for establishing and preserving peace and stability in the Middle East and the world.
Vahid Beheshti, the Founder of the Iran Front for the Revival of Law and National Sovereignty, (Iran Front) began his speech by holding up a photo of “Hossein Ronaghi”, who is in prison and on the 28th day of a hunger strike with water and the sixth day of a dry hunger strike, and emphasised that Khamenei is responsible for his life. It was a great source of satisfaction that only hours after this initiative by the Iran Front, the Islamic Republic temporarily released Hossein Ronaghi from Prison.
Beheshti added: “Investing in democracy in Iran means investing in the security of Europe and the United States. Attacks on the Islamic Republic will begin soon, and no one can remain neutral. You must either stand with the people of Iran, or everyone will pay the price of inaction.” Beheshti emphasised that Iran Front opposes any reform or “metamorphosis” of the Islamic Republic and considers only the complete overthrow of this regime to be the solution. He stated at the session: “As good news, today we announce that the Front has organised its forces in 189 cities and is ready for the moment of the final uprising.”
Then the IOPHR’ statement, issued for this meeting, was read by Ms. Beverly Eve, the Director of IOPHR.
The event concluded with a question-and-answer session.
The message of the meeting was clear: investing in democracy in Iran is an investment in the security of Europe and the world.
